S1 E1: At the young age of 23, Michelangelo broke all traditions and created his first masterpiece - the Pietà, of Mary cradling the body of Jesus Christ after his death, who looks as if he was sleeping peacefully. Michelangelo's David, carved from a 7-metre-high block of marble, also broke taboos of its time - an anatomically perfect body representing the freedom and sovereignty of the spirit.
