Fourth of September

Chang Ming Chieh (Tuo Tsung Hua) is a desperate man on the run after falling into a massive gambling debt. He relocates his unsuspecting family to a rental house in Hualien, hoping to escape the ruthless debt collectors. His wife Hsiao Ting Wen (Li Xing) and daughter become increasingly uneasy after learning about a previous murder in the house and sensing something sinister. Despite warnings from Officer Hu Lao about the ominous "Fourth of September" curse, Ming Chieh dismisses all supernatural concerns. As tension mounts, Ting Wen attempts to flee with the children, but Ming Chieh forcefully prevents their escape, revealing his willingness to go to extreme lengths to keep his family together. This dark narrative explores the depths of a man's desperation and the potential supernatural consequences of his actions.
