Idiot's Delight
Academy Award winners Clark Gable and Norma Shearer star in MGM's big-screen adaptation of Robert Sherwood's Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway play--Idiot's Delight. Italy, 1939. Two American entertainers, Harry Van (Gable--Gone with the Wind) and Irene Fellara (Shearer--The Divorcee)who shared a tryst years before, meet again in a luxurious hotel in the Alps, which overlooks an Italian air base. Van is now the leader of "Les Blondes," a traveling show performing at the hotel, and Fellara is on the arm of a wealthy munitions magnate. Now, as the guests party and passion rekindles between Van and Fellara, World War II breaks out -- and the air base next to the hotel is among the first places attacked.
