Jing Tian

A capable and appealing presence in comedies and action films in her native China, actress Jing Tian made an impressive leap to American features with appearances in such blockbusters as "Kong: Skull Island" (2017). Born in Xi'an, China, she graduated from the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy and Beijing Film Academy before making her screen debut as the female lead in the action-horror film "Anaconda Frightened" (2009). After a year-long recurring role in the television drama "An Epic of a Woman" (Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, 2009), Jing returned to feature roles in light romantic comedies like "My Belle Boss" (2010) and "Better and Better" (2013). That same year, she made an assured leap into action films with the Donnie Yen crime vehicle "Special ID," and teamed with another martial arts superstar, Jackie Chan, in "Police Story 2013," playing the wayward daughter of his tough detective. In 2014, she co-starred with Hong Kong action hero Chow Yun-Fat in "From Vegas to Macau," the fourth entry in his long-running "God of Gamblers" franchise. Jing's English-language feature debut came in 2016 with "The Great Wall," a fantasy epic from director Zhang Yimou with Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe. Though something of a box office letdown in the West, "Great Wall" helped to cement Jing's standing as an action performer with English-language audiences, which she underscored with her supporting turn as a biologist on the trail of mythical monsters in "Kong: Skull Island" and her co-starring role in the science fiction adventure "Pacific Rim: Uprising" (2018).
