Jack (Alec Baldwin) assumes a new political role in Washington, DC. When the job is not what he expected, Jack partners with another government employee, Cooter (guest star Matthew Broderick), to scheme on how to get fired. For his plan to work Jack must enlist the help of former girlfriend C.C. (guest star Edie Falco). Meanwhile, Liz (Tina Fey) is slowly adjusting to life without Jack as a daily sounding board - especially when she has a pregnancy scare involving Dennis, the "former" Subway Hero (guest star Dean Winters). Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) is preparing his personal essay for an application to be a page at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, but Donny, the head page (guest star Paul Scheer) gets in his way. Finally, Tracy (Tracy Morgan) is in the advanced stages of the invention that will be his legacy to his children. Matthew Broderick, Edie Falco, Dean Winters, and Paul Scheer guest star. Also stars Jane Krakowski, Scott Adsit, Katrina Bowden and Maulik Pancholy.

A rocket scientist with strong ties to government security is found dead with his crotch on fire, and the S.V.U. Detectives must determine if that had something to do with his demise.

The special victims unit is on the hot seat when a five-year-old sexual assault case is reopened just days before the statute of limitations ends, so Detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Christopher Meloni) scramble to interview the three distinctly different victims, but are crushed when their legal maneuver to file an arrest warrant is denied. They and other SVU detectives are even more exasperated when they learn that one of the women (guest star Jenny Bacon) admits that she knows who the assailant is -- but won't tell because he now is a member of her church. Richard Belzer, Dann Florek and Michelle Hurd also star.

Arnold Zachary, owner of a successful clothing factory, is found beaten to death in his office. Even though he ran a "sweat shop," he was much more pleasant than most bosses and his employees were not disgruntled. A security tape shows the killer arriving and leaving but it's difficult to see his face. But Detectives Briscoe and Green canvass the employees to see if there were any problems. One of his workers, Maria Villanueva, just had a baby and had a longer than usual maternity leave. They talk to her and Briscoe holds the baby, who drools on his shirt, therefore supplying the DNA to determine the victim is the baby's father. Now they think Maria's boyfriend, Miguel Comacho, is the killer for obvious reasons. They pick up Miguel and his English isn't very good but he's still mirandized in English and then confesses to killing Arnold.

In an apparent jewlery theft a woman, her ten-year-old son and her teenage daugther are shot, killing the mother and son. Detectives target the devastated husband/father, but evidence soon links the murders to the surviving victim and her deadbeat boyfriend.
