Jim thinks the children ask him to solve their problems too much. He decides they need to start finding their own solutions.
One of Kathy's classmates is adopted, and it gets the other classmates to wonder who else might be adopted. Kathy then finds a receipt from an adoption agency and is sure it references her.
Earp and Doc capture a very young female outlaw called Little Pistol while tracking a band who robbed Doc's saloon. She likes Earp but refuses to talk until Doc uses nitrous oxide to pull her impacted wisdom teeth causing her to open up.
Kathy reminisces with Mother and Bud about the time she once thought she was adopted.
